High Blood Pressure and Pre-E

I've had high blood pressure for quite a while now - since way before pregnancy. My doctor hasn't put me on any meds yet. She said she might if it continues to rise and reaches either 160 (top number) or 90 (bottom number). It was 152/70 yesterday.

My question is - how common is it to develop Pre-Eclampsia due to high blood pressure? I'm very very concerned about this... even with my doctor monitoring me.
