Diaper Size Question

Our friends just had a shower/diaper party for us on Saturday, and we ended up with a ton of diapers in all different sizes. (Yay!) But I was noticing that size 1 diapers say they fit babies 8lbs to 14 lbs. My OB is estimating that baby will be 8-9lbs at birth. I know they can't predict the exact weight of the baby, but my question is: if my baby is in fact 8 lbs, will he/she ever even wear newborn diapers? I only have two packs (30 each) of newborn size diapers, but I don't want to get any more if the baby will never even fit into them.
