MIL and delivery

My MIL wants to be at the hospital. She asked DH if it was okay if she stayed in the waiting room, however there isn't a "waiting" room. L&D is a locked unit. The "waiting" room is out by the elevators and outside of the unit. I told him if she really wants, she can just be in the delivery room since it will be my birth coach, DH and my mom.

However they do have a place for dad's to go...so I don't know if it would be better to ask the nurses if it would be kosher if she waited in there instead of in the area outside of L&D?
