Carter's returns?

Can you get store credit at Carter's for items even if you didn't get it from Carter's (but it's Carter's brand clothes)? It seems like it, according to their website, but I don't shop their much so wasn't sure if anybody had experience with this. I have a couple of Carter's clothes that I dunno where they came from, but she can't wear,so I'd like to trade them in for something else if it's possible...
