Anyone go straight to 0-3 month clothing

We were told our son is going to be on the bigger side, so we haven't bought any newborn clothing, and we have a bunch of outfits in the 0-3 mon range. Just wondering if anyone has skipped the newborn sizes completely and went to 0-3 mon right at birth? or how many newborn outfits we should plan on having?
