Another baby feeding question (repost from Dec '11)

I am BF and supplementing with formula do to a low supply. We are currently feeding every 2-3 hours. Should I be supplementing more to stretch out the amount of time between feedings? Could this help with LO waking up so much during the nights? Thoughts?
