Hi -
I just had a question for you. I saw your reply to the VBAC post a ways down and you said that doctors are not in-house at your hospital and they only come in when a woman is ready to push, which is why they can't do VBACs. What happens if a first time mom has a placental abruption or the baby quickly crashes for some other reason and an emergency c/s needs to be performed immediately? Is there no doctor there to do that?
The only reason I ask is this came up at one of the hospitals I was looking at for VBAC. Since a person who has never had a c/s still has a chance of rupture (or any other emergent problem) it made me uncomfortable to deliver at all at a hospital that wasn't equipt to handle emergencies. I am surprised that there are so many hospitals like that! Makes me nervous for the birthing mamas. . . I thought I was just interviewing a sub-par hospital but now I am realizing that lots of hospitals run that way.
