Low lying placenta?

Has anyone else been told that they have a low lying placenta (ie placenta attached near cervix as opposed to further up uterus)?  I was told this by the ultrasound tech at the visit today, but I don't see my doctor until Tuesday so I am really freaking out.  The ultrasound report says it is low lying extending to the cervical os.  It sounds like the majority of the time it corrects itself, but if it doesn't it can be very serious (bleeding, early labor) and a c-section would most likely be needed.  Just curious to see if anyone else has had this diagnosis and what their doctor advised.....
