Is anyone having a shower after baby is born?

MIL just informed us today that she would like to have her shower 2-3 months after baby is born. I really appreciate anyone having a shower because we could use the help with getting things for baby, but I do feel like this is a bit impractical as we will need things before the baby is here not 2-3 months after....

I know some people plan their shower for after the baby is born and bring their baby to the shower, but I also do not like that because neither DH or I know most of the people she is inviting and I don't really want all of those people thinking they are going to pass our LO around...

am I being silly?
