Breastfeeding and 3 month old teething!!

Hello ladies and thanks for reading,

I have been BFing my 3 month old LO and yesterday he began to clamp down on my breast and it's was really painful. At first I thought it was his latch but I checked it and it was fine. Is 3 months to early to start teething? Anyone else having teething babies this early? Any suggestions to help soothe baby and my pain from BFing.
