Sleeping in crib right away?

I was thinking about different ways to get LO to sleep and I notice alot of people say that they transition their kids from co-sleeper, RnP, etc. to their crib in their own room. My question is do you think it would be a good idea for us to try them sleeping in their crib right away? We would have the crib in our room for a couple of months until we wanted to transition them to the nursery. I was thinking of trying this so that way it wasnt so much of a transition for LO. Obviously if they dont like sleeping in the crib right away, I'm going to try something else, but I thought this might be a easy way to not have to transition. What do you guys think? What did you do with your LO? TIA!
