Do newborns really need to eat every 2 hours?

How often is/did your newborn eat in the first few weeks. I try to wake her up every two hours to eat but a lot of the time she is just passed out and won't latch. Then there are times when she wants to eat for like 3 hours straight. Is this normal? Should I be stressing about making sure she's up every two hours to eat?
