help with butt rash

i thought maybe LO had the allergy ring but he had no other symtoms.  His rash is only near his anus when you spread his cheeks.  the rash is SUPER chaffed and raw.  Its beet red and looks just so raw.  i tried air drying, triple paste and just switched to desitin.  Any other suggestions?  Someone said monistat but id rather ask my pedi before applying that to his butt....no?  i just feel bad because its so raw and he poops so much.  I use earths best chlorine free sensitive wipes.  maybe i should switch to warm water with gauze sheets?
