Infant reflux and Zantac (Zantax?)

I'm just curious how meds worked for lo's with infant reflux...we've elevated the bed, burp often, elevate him for thirty minutes after feeding, tried the rice cereal.  It worked for six days and for the last 24 hours he is clearly miserable. My pediatrician mentioned meds a week ago, but said they don't really work...just curious if anyone has had luck with meds, I just feel so bad for this little guy.  Thanks in advance
