Family Medical Leave Act

I was just wondering if anyone had problems with their employers allowing them to use their 12 weeks off that is legally required of certain employers under the Family Medical Leave Act?

I work for a school. My due date is June 14th which is right at the end of the school year. They are trying to tell me that I must use the 12 weeks granted under FMLA right after the baby is born, even though I would not be working over the summer anyway. My understanding of the law is that you may take the 12 weeks ANY TIME in the 12 month period following the birth of a baby.

I know this can be tricky, but if anyone else has experience or precedence, I would love to hear it.
