Cold Medications?

Sad Recently came down with a rotten cold... painful sore throat, dry cough, sneezing , achey. Miserable!

A lot of the medications that aid in sleep or are for sore throat , seem to be off limits. Is there any "Nighttime" med that is safer to use? Or for a sore throat rather than a cough... cough drops only do so much, this thing is as painful as strep throat (thankfully it isn't strep!) Ugh!!
