When is the baby shower and registry?

FTM here and not "in the know" about many things baby...

When do most new moms have their baby shower?  I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and people seem shocked I don't have this planned yet.  And when do most new moms start registering?  This hasn't been a top priority yet and, again, many seem dismayed that DH and I haven't started.

Having miscarried 3 times before now and no successful pregnancies until this one, it's all so surreal to me and I don't think it's really hit me yet that all indications are that this is actually happening this time around!
