XP: Tell me about the mini pill.

My 6 week PP appointment is coming up and I'm planning on getting on some form of birth control. I'm not a fan of IUD's and I heard that being put on regular BC pills can decrease your milk supply. I'm unfamiliar with the mini pill and was wondering what experiences any of you have had with it? Does it effect your supply at all? Do you get a period? What is the difference between the regular pill and mini pill?
