Anyone have to do a 2 hr glucose test early bc overweight?

My doc office asked me to do a 2 hour glucose with my standard bloodwork bc I am overweight. I am a little behind with my bloodwork from first trimester bc I was waiting on insurance to kick in on Jan 1st. With the standard bw, they are having me do a 2 hour glucose test bc I weigh over 195lbs. And then do the standard 1 hour at 26 weeks as usual. I never had to do this with dd #1, neither did my 2 sisters who are overweight too. Anyone else have to do this? I am confused about it.
