weaning the swaddle

so, curious if anyone else was trying to wean their baby from swaddling? we have had a difficult timekeeping DS swaddled at night, he must be getting too big or outgrowing the need for it (he's 11 wks). He busts out and then immediately wakes himself. But its taking us at least 2 hrs or so at night to get him to sleep without it, including many pacifier reinserts. Its also getting colder, and when i picked him up last night to feed him his hands were freezing!! what do you non-swaddlers do to keep your baby warm?? I had him in a thick sleeper, but guessing that wasn't enough....any suggestions would be helpful! thanks!
