Savings for LO?

I would like to open a small savings account for DD to contribute to monthly. We don't have much to start, but I figured contributing over time would be better than nothing.

I don't know if just having a normal savings account with a credit union would be the best option? Or trying to get a money market mutual fund of some sort through a different kind of financial institution would be better?

What are you doing for savings for LO?
