Neo Citran and Pregnancy?

Im 15 weeks pregnant and Ive had a terrible cold for the last week, Im feeling better now, but for awhile I couldnt sleep at night because I couldnt breath and then I just looked and felt worse the next day. I avoided taking cold medicine, but on New Years Eve I was so miserable, my mom made me drink a hot cup of Neo Citran with honey. She knows my pregnant and has no qualms about giving it to me.

I slept well and now the cold is almost gone.
But now Im told that taking Neo Citran is like a big taboo and how terrible I am for taking it while pregnant...
