Formula before bed for BF baby?

Right now I am BFing LO, but I pump and put the milk in a bottle as he has latching issues. During the day he eats about 3 ounces at a feeding, but at night I can only really get him to eat 1 once at a feeding and he wakes up every hour to feed. I am exhausted and looking for a way to try and get him to sleep a little longer. A friend recommended giving LO a bottle of formula before bed and then just BF the rest of the time. What are your ladies opinions? Is it unrealistic for me to be trying to get him to sleep longer at only 2 weeks old?
