finger sucking

Initially, DH and I didn't want to introduce a pacifier whatsoever to our LO.  But then came her intense need to suck her fingers.  I have never seen a baby have her hands in her mouth as much as mine.  So we gave in and handed over the paci, but still she doesn't seem satisfied.  I would much rather break her from a pacifier than her fingers later on.  But almost every time she will pull out the paci, and in go the fingers.  We've tried several different shapes and brands but she still prefers the fingers.  Anyone else going through this?  And pointers would be great!  Thanks ladies
