Prednisolone for RSV/Cold

Lo has been suffering with a cold since Christmas day. He had it before then and was put on breathing treatments with albuterol. .He also had draining from his eye and mild fever (100.0). It cleared up but then came back on Christmas. We went to the doctor today because he's been VERY congested and had the mild fever. He gets choked on the drainage and has a cough. Doctor said she wasn't going to run the RSV test because the treatment is the same of what he is on with the breathing treatments but did start him on a steroid (Prednisolone). Anyone else have experience with this medicine?
