Shower question

December 2011 in 2nd Trimester

As a 1st timer, I'm really unclear about how all this shower stuff works. My Mom keeps asking me about it and it is my understanding that it's not for me to design/plan. I thought I just had to supply the preferred guest list and perhaps a theme. But I see others on this board planning it. Your thoughts and experience appreciated!
