When is the best time to give baby Gripe Water if BFing?

Recently, our DD has started having issues with gas pains. We have been giving her Gripe Water. The instructions say it can be mixed in with baby's formula, but I exclusively BF, and haven't had a chance yet to start pumping. Should I give DD GW right before she eats, right after, another time, etc?
