Bleeding Umbilical Cord Stump

Did your LO's umbilical cord stump bleed at all?

DS is 8 days old and we noticed a tiny bit of dried blood around the stump this morning and then his last change it was on his onesie and diaper (small circle on each) and then when we were cleaning it, we realized there was some slow active bleeding. 

His discharge papers say that we could expect some bleeding when it's ready to fall off, but said that wouldn't be until around 3 weeks old.
