A lot of noise when LO sleeps

LO is 24 days old and sleeps like a champ, but recently he has started to make a lot of noise in his sleep. I like being able to hear him, but we can't get any sleep. Last night he groaned from 3 am until 9 am. Is it to early to start transitioning him to his crib? Because my husband went back to work today (he really needs his sleep for his job) and I know he is exhausted.
