Those who have transitioned from holding LO for sleep...

DD has been held for sleep, mostly due to bad tummy troubles. So, she's been on her tummy on us or side next to us. It's the only way she would sleep longer than 20 min at a time.

Now that we have pinpointed and fixed her dairy sensitivity and she is much more comfortable, we want to transition her, but it just isn't going well.

Last night, she nursed at 7:45pm and feel asleep.  She was fast asleep for about 20 min and I put her down in the PnP in our room. She was out cold.  15 min later, she woke grunting and crying and WIDE awake.  She stayed awake for 4 hours after that.  4 hours!!  Wouldn't be soothed back to sleep, wouldn't go down awake...just wide awake with us.  Not crabby, but just awake. She was fed a few times within that 4 hours, as we thought maybe she was hungry (has been eating a lot recently).  No dice.  By the time we got her to sleep at 12, soe was so overtired and restless as it was that we didn't want to risk putting her down again.

It's hard to do the pickup/put down method when she is just wide awake! Help.  Any suggestions?  I think she hates sleeping on her back b/c she isn't used to it.  Has anyone done this successfully?
