Could I have twins?

December 2011 in 2nd Trimester

I have a question thats probably stupid but I will ask anyway

I am 18 weeks, the doc has heard the heatbeat twice. My a/s is in 2 weeks. If I am having twins would they have caught it by now with just the heartbeat? People are saying it looks like I'm carrying twins and I have gained a lot of weight...What do you think?
