Feeling guilty.

That Eve can't go to her school christmas party tonight. DH and I will both be at work. MIL doesn't drive them anywhere.. and even though its in walking distance, I don't think she's up for taking both kids out..  We just sort of hadn't mentioned it to her, and I did feel a little bad that we weren't going.. but more because I felt like we SHOULD go.. not because I felt bad for Eve.. Well today as we were leaving, her teachers said to another little girl "See you at the party tonight.." and Eve said "I'm gonna go to the party too!". So of course I had to tell her she wasn't.. She was SO SO SO upset. I told her she was going to the YMCA party tomorrow night and that we'd go to her school party next year but I feel TERRIBLE.

I always said I wanted to get out of this job when my kids were in school because i didn't want to miss school events and concerts and stuff. but I didn't think it would happen this early.
