Laundering Dry Clean Only??

So this is going to seem silly. LO's Christmas outfit and his Christening outfit are both dry clean only. I usually wash all his clothes in Tide Free before he ever wears them. Should I have these clothes dry cleaned first? Are dry cleaning chemicals safe for LO? Should I just wash them on cold with a delicate cycle? Or should I let him wear these items unwashed?
