Could swaddling cause gas?

My LO has the worst gas pain in the middle of the night.  He does great during the day and the only thing I can think of is that I am swaddling him too tight?  I dont know but its really the only thing we do differently.  I also think maybe its because during the day he is pretty active and able to keep it moving?  WIth all the grunting he does, I'm not suprised he is waking up every 2 hours.
