Baby Skin Infection?

Our DD has lots of squishy folds under her chin/neck and gunk seems to collect there. I've been washing it and applying Vaseline per the pediatrician. Last night I noticed she had a foul odor and checked her neck and there is a large red spot that is funky. I washed it and put on more Vaseline but wondered if it could be infected? Thoughts?
