Pain during sex?

So I had my 6 week follow up appointment and my OB says I've healed beautifully.  So DH and I tried to do it tonight, but I felt pain down there pretty quickly so I had to stop.  DH seemed very disappointed and said, "I thought the doctor said you were healed?"  Yeah, she did but it still hurts.  Does he expect me just to do it anyway even though it hurts?  I felt like it was my fault I couldn't satisfy him and now I'm annoyed and feel like it's not fair how much pain us moms have to go through from sore breasts to being sore down there and being the one who went through labor...  sigh.  How long did you wait before having sex and did it hurt for awhile?
