Bright red spotting after internal U/S?

Yesterday was a big day - had the ultrasound in the morning, and the 8wk prenatal with my Dr (got to meet her for the first time) yesterday afternoon.

Things mostly went well - during the external ultrasound baby was measuring below 8wks so they did an internal and from there everything was looking good - measuring right on track at just over 8wks.

Things went well yesterday, but then this morning I wake up and have bright red spotting! Has anyone else had this after an internal u/s? Is it normal? Should I be alarmed?

We saw (couldn't yet hear) the heartbeat - 163bpm, and everything looked good... Could things have gone so horribly bad within 24hrs?
