dry heaving

Last night I was sooo sick no matter what I did, no matter what position I laid in on the couch, no matter what I ate or drank nothing helped and I was so nauseas but I couldnt throw up! I just kept dry heaving. Anyone else having this problem? This is about the third time I've had this happen to me and as much as I am happy I am keeping my food down; I wish I would vomit at least once because it feels like that is the only thing that would make me feel better. I know I had food and fluid in my stomach last night when I was getting sick so I have no idea why this is happening.
