Elective c-section?

I know this is probably a controversial subject on the bump, but has anyone considered an elective c-section or had one in the past? My doctor mentioned this as an option, but I haven't full formed any opinions on anything relating to the birthing process yet. I've known a few women in my family that have chosen to do an elective c-section, but I feel like most people try vaginal before ending in c-section. Thoughts? Opinions?
