baby shower invite weird?

I just got an invitation to a baby shower for a friend from highschool.  She is due in May and is expecting twins.  Her invite had on the bottom, "Monetary gifts, gift cards, baby clothes only please"  Isn't that kind of rude?  I'm not going because I can't that day, but even if I could, I doubt I would because this is just rude.
