What does he mean by this?

The babies dad has only talked to me 2 months out of the 10 months I've been pregnant, I'm due in 6 days and he texted me last night saying he misses me, I do miss him so I said it back, but if he was going to start talking like that I would reassure him that I don't want a relationship right now. He said " Mhm night" after I said imy too. Then I said um ok? what was that all about? then he said " I don't want you with another guy" I said I'm not and I don't want to be with anyone, so he asked why and I gave him some reasons. He hasn't been to 1 dr. appt, just started talking to me again last week and expects to get back w/ me after the baby is here so he really knows it's his kid. Um no..he has tons of earning back to do. He obviously doesn't want to be with me but then he doesn't want me with anyone else? Why do guys say stuff like that?? It's confusing!
