I don't understand waiting to tell... (m/c mentioned)

I can see keeping a pregnancy a secret from the masses until after the first trimester, but I don't understand keeping it from parents and very close friends. Personally, I wouldn't have made it through my miscarriage earlier this year without the support of my mother, and if I hadn't told her and she would've found out down the road she would've been beyond hurt with me.

I know lots of you have your reasons, but I guess I just don't understand going through the pain of a loss without the support of family and close friends if you don't have to.
