.....because I found a dying chipmunk in my parents' driveway. He looked like he got attacked by a cat or something but he was breathing heavy and curled up in a little ball when I nudged him with my foot. I wanted to take him to the vet where they take hurt wildlife but it's 45 mins away and rush hour. My dad freaked out when I went near it and wouldn't even let me handle the box it was in. He went and put it in the woods. The cut on his back looked superficial so I don't know if maybe he was just in shock or if he got crunched during the attack. I am a huge animal lover and a former vet tech so it is killing me that I couldn't help him. Add some pregnancy hormones to that mix and I bawled my eyes out the whole way home
