Baby shower blues

Background:  My best friend is planning my baby shower and she is hosting it at my mother's house.  I found out from my mom last night that only 8 people have rsvp'd and that includes the two of them, myself, my bffs mother and my mother's bff.

My mom is just over the moon that it's looking like a small party because then she won't worry about space (she's always worried about space), but I am just bummed that so many of my friends look like they won't be joining us.  I only invited about 20 people so it was a smaller shower to start with, but I did not invite just to get gifts.  I invited people I genuinely keep in touch with who we socialize with regularly.  

I am starting to get sad though because it feels like no one wants to celebrate with me and then I think about all the baby stuff we are going to end up buying if I basically don't have anyone who wants to join us at the shower...
