When to send shower invites?

I'm having one big shower instead of lots of little ones, so I have three people putting it together and now they're arguing about when to send out invites.

The shower will be on Nov 5th. I don't want them to be sent so late that no one can make arrangements to come, but I don't want them to go out so early that people forget about it either. My sister says 4 weeks is when they should be mailed. My MIL thinks 1 week. 

What do you girls think?
