I both pump and direct BF. Never thought much about this until my mother in law said something today...
I always put my pumped milk into the fridge right away unless I plan to feed her with it in the next few hours. Well, after it sits in the fridge for a little while (I don't store them in the fridge any longer than a few days) it will separate -- a thick white will rise to the top. I always followed the rules of breastmilk storage as given to me by my lactation consultant, so I always figured this was normal and would shake it all up when I got it out to warm up for baby.
Is the separating okay?
