So DH surprised me with a trip to the Finger Lakes this past weekend to celebrate our 5th anniversary! We had a great time, and I just wanted to give a little shout-out to some of the businesses we loved.

1. Wicher Garden Bed & Breakfast, in Auburn, http://www.wichergardeninn.com/. An 1850s farmhouse, very pretty and quiet and the BEST breakfasts! I'm talking fresh baked pumpkin muffins, apple-cinnamon pancakes with fresh-picked Macintosh apples...yum! Gail and Gary Wicher were so sweet and very knowledgeable about the area, with lots of great recommendations for activities, meals, etc. We stayed in the Rose Suite and it was wonderful!

2. Moro's Table, also in Auburn, http://www.morostable.com/. Delicious! We had the mussels w/white wine & parsley, the pork tenderloin, the shrimp risotto, and the warm choc cake with bourbon ice cream and caramelized banana. Service was impeccable, and we really loved being able to order appetizer portions for dinner. The chef even came out and made the rounds to every table at the end of the night.

3. Thirsty Owl Winery, in Ovid, http://thirstyowl.com/. Great wines, a spectacular view of Cayuga Lake, and a great little bistro for lunch. We even got to sit off the deck on the lawn, overlooking the vineyard and lake while we ate. It was the only table out there, so relaxing and romantic! It felt like nobody else was there. We especially loved their Diamond and Vidal Blanc wines.

Needless to say, it was a wonderful two days! So relaxing and I would definitely recommend this area for any local girls looking to take a close trip with their DH. It would also be great for a girl's weekend...there are a lot of spas in that area too!
