North Charlotte vs. South Charlotte

Hi All:

I'm looking to move to the Charlotte area but am torn between North vs. South Charlotte.  Would love to hear everyone's opinions on these two areas. I'll be moving from the Northeast (NYC) and have a three year old (with another potentially on the way).  My husband will be working in downtown Charlotte so commute needs to be convenient.  I'm looking for an area that is suburban with an urban feel (i.e. - we love eating out so an area with restaurants nearby).  Education system is very important to us.  One thing I've heard is that some areas of Charlotte have year round school systems and that is something that I am not looking for so if you know where this is please let me know.
