bad luck with bras

I seem to be having some bad luck finding a good bra.  Before I was pregnant, I was a 38D.  It was too tight almost immediately after my BFP, so I bought a cheapy clearance one at wal-mart in 40DD.  It felt too big, and it has this weird line on it that you could see through my shirt.  Not flattering.

So I tried on another one in the same brand (playtex), 40D.  Felt way too small.

This past weekend, I went to Motherhood and had them fit me. 40F ... (I guess with their odd sizing that's like a 40 DDD?).  I tried on a wirefree one that seemed to fit OK, so I bought it.

After wearing it for about an hour or two, I realized that there is this wire on the sides -- not an underwire, just a wire on the sides -- that keeps digging into my ribs and it's very painful.  I can't return it because I took the tags off. c'est le vie.

Anyone have any suggestions on a comfortable, flattering bra that you've had good luck with?  Bonus if it's a nursing bra, but I'm willing to take anything right now.
