Big Gifters?

My family is not a big gifting family.  Now that I'm older, we don't do a lot for mother's day/father's day or birthdays.  For Christmas, we do a gift exchange between my parents, sisters and brother in law.  We just aren't a huge gifting family.  We call...send cards or spend time together. 

Well, we were out of town for MIL birthday and DH just got paid yesterday.  It hasn't even been a week and of course DH was going to get a small gift for his mom but just hasn't yet.  

FIL just called DH and basically told him he was a POS for not getting his mom a gift and card and went on and on about it.  This also happened in June when his FIL called and complained about not getting a father's day gift.  Really?!
